I was asked by a local business network called StroudNet to talk about how podcasting has changed my career.
Here is the blurb that was written up:
Benjamin Bruton-Cox - How podcasting has changed my career… (11.00am - 11.40am)
- Why you should listen to podcasts
- Why you should start a podcast
- How to start a podcast
- How podcasts fits in with your career
- How your podcast could start making a money
After three years of hosting a videography based podcast, I have learnt the power of the platform and how at any level, podcasting is a great resource for others to learn. In my opinion they are possibly the best platform to learn passively. But on the flip side, what does that tell you about the person/people you are listening to. In most cases, for the podcasts that I listen to I revere the hosts and guest speakers. Why? Because they are so knowledgable on the subject that I am intrigued in. I look up to them because for that duration (in most cases when I am in the car) I listen to what they have to say and they stick with me and provide education, information and entertainment. I invest emotionally and financially in some cases into their ideals and values. And with podcasts more popular than ever, with over 500,000 active podcasts on iTunes alone (thats a growth of over 25% in the past 12 months), this is a huge marketplace that demands attention and a lot of respect. All businesses and entrepreneurs want to be seen as ‘thought leaders’ in their space and with this booming learning tool, you can be too. Oh and its not as scary as video!
