Why you should podcast with Benjamin Bruton-Cox

I was asked by a local business network called StroudNet to talk about how podcasting has changed my career.

Here is the blurb that was written up:

Benjamin Bruton-Cox - How podcasting has changed my career… (11.00am - 11.40am)

  • Why you should listen to podcasts
  • Why you should start a podcast
  • How to start a podcast
  • How podcasts fits in with your career
  • How your podcast could start making a money

After three years of hosting a videography based podcast, I have learnt the power of the platform and how at any level, podcasting is a great resource for others to learn. In my opinion they are possibly the best platform to learn passively. But on the flip side, what does that tell you about the person/people you are listening to. In most cases, for the podcasts that I listen to I revere the hosts and guest speakers. Why? Because they are so knowledgable on the subject that I am intrigued in. I look up to them because for that duration (in most cases when I am in the car) I listen to what they have to say and they stick with me and provide education, information and entertainment. I invest emotionally and financially in some cases into their ideals and values. And with podcasts more popular than ever, with over 500,000 active podcasts on iTunes alone (thats a growth of over 25% in the past 12 months), this is a huge marketplace that demands attention and a lot of respect. All businesses and entrepreneurs want to be seen as ‘thought leaders’ in their space and with this booming learning tool, you can be too. Oh and its not as scary as video!

The Series - Leading Ladies

In the first of a new series we speak to the Leading Ladies, simply called “The Series”

We have only interviewed two women on the podcast before today and Rich and I wondered why this was the case. Put simply, there isn’t many women videographers in the UK. So we decided to talk to who we regard as the leading ladies in the industry, Frances Madell from Reel Love Films, Alice Underwood from Alice Underwood Films, Carys Kaiser from The Drone Lass, Leanne Perrins from Blooming Lovely Films and Laura Lawson from Lawson Films to discuss their difficulties in starting, how their working life is affected and if they have encountered sexism within their chosen trade.

Ben Gets Interviewed

I was approached by a lovely chap called Ryan Yapp of Rolling Films based in Cheltenham. He wants to interview the best videographers and photographers around - and yet he chose me for his second interview!!!

Anyway, it was a pleasure to be part of his interview. He asks me about the wedding industry and how I got started within this industry.

I have an idea about the future of the industry and how the industry has changed over the 9 years.
